Why Roulette Systems are Doomed

A lot of people are making money by peddling roulette, bingo and casino systems.  If these systems were so successful, the people wouldn’t be selling them.  They would be making their money in the slot games, bingo and casinos.  Betting systems don’t really change the player’s chances of winning in a game of chance. They don’t hurt that much, as long as they are used for small bets.

Betting systems are methods of planned betting.  On some you increase your bet when you win and on other you decrease your bet when you win.  Each system is different.  But they are all based on past performance or past outcomes.  In roulette, there is no pattern to the outcomes, or winning number.  The game has random results.  Each outcome is independent of all other outcomes.  Each number has a one in thirty seven (European version) chance of winning on a given spin.  In addition, the house advantage is the same for all bets.  There is no way to lower the house advantage unless the player plays under different house rules. This means that all roulette system will fail to perform consistently.  You may follow a system and win once day and lose the next day.  Since each outcome is random there is no pattern of past performance on which to develop a system.

The player can still try systems, just don’t put too much faith into them.  In a game of chance the player will probably have similar results with and without the system.
